I was woken at 7:40 by the Captain's
voice coming from the speaker beside my bed, explaining that we were unable to
get in to Torshavn because of rough seas, so would have a sea day instead. An
hour or so later the Social Director came on to tell us of the entertainment
planned. I managed to sleep after that until she came back on to tell us that
something was just about to start. Perhaps that was a bit of overkill! However,
I may have been the only person still asleep so late. I got up at 11.00.
I have never been to the Faroes Islands, so was sorry to miss them. It came as a surprise to some people, but I felt that the captain had started preparing us for this eventuality at midday the day before, when he talked about the weather and passenger safety being the main priority.
I had a rest day with room service lunch followed by another little sleep. I can't call it a 'nanna nap' because it went on so long. I have never slept so much in one cruise!
I watched the dancing that evening but did not dance myself. I left the ballroom at 10.30, knowing we would lose an hour during the night.
I set off for my sleeping room and
actually got into bed before I realised that I would not be able to sleep. The
whole centre of the ship was creaking loudly. In the end I decided to go back
to my main room in the hope of a better sleep. I found that the creaking
stopped about the time I reached the Guest Laundrette, so it really was just
the centre. I've never encountered that before.
