I did not sleep as well as hoped in
my new sleeping room because of all the banging doors early in the morning,
plus announcements from the captain at both 8.00 and 9.30. However, at least I
didn't have continual noise giving me a headache. I got up about 9.40 and
dressed roughly to return to my living room. Judith and I were meeting up at
11, and I had just enough time for everything.
We had both dressed warmly for the
expected temperatures, but at the last minute I changed to a short-sleeved
blouse under my jacket. I was very glad of the change as we were hot! We soon
took off our jackets.
First we looked in souvenir shops and then walked up the
street by the side of the church and looked at a couple of art exhibitions. We were also treated to some art on the street.
We
then continued walking to the botanical gardens and thoroughly enjoyed all the
plants. It is well worth a visit. My favourite section was the rock garden.
We came back down the hill past the church (which turned out to be closed on
Saturdays) and then walked down the 120 steps to the shops again, very glad we
had not gone up the steps to the church!
Back on the ship we had lunch and
Judith went off to use free wifi while I rested in my room. As we sailed away I stood on my balcony and took a few photos of the varying scenery.
I had thought about
skipping dinner, but realised I might want to skip it the following night so I
made the effort and arrived about 6.20. The others on my table were delighted to see me so it was
worth the effort. We had such a good time talking that I was late to the
dancing.
I had enjoyed my walk but it had been hard work going uphill and the trade-off came that night when I found the dancing to be a bit of an effort. In the end I left the ballroom about 10.45 and put
a note under Judith's door with suggested arrangements for when to meet up the next day.
