Sunday 6th July
I had chosen to sleep in my own room for the last night, and to put up with all the ship's noises on arrival. After all, I had to be up and out of my room before 8.30.
The last day of a cruise is very organised, with restaurants closing at a certain time so that the staff can thoroughly clean them before the new arrivals. It must be difficult for people doing back-to-back cruises who want a relaxed day on the ship.
Judith and I arrived at the restaurant for breakfast about ten minutes before it closed to new orders. We managed to have a leisurely breakfast to fill in some of the time before our departure. After that we sat in the Queen's Room until it was our turn to leave the ship.
Collecting the car was simple but driving out of Southampton was complicated because of all the detours (roadworks, Race for Life) and took about 45 minutes. I was home by midday and Judith then had another two hours of driving ahead of her.
